These plugs are typically used for line cords and are ONLY for stranded wire!
Sometimes called an RJ11 or RJ14 Plug.
This plug is fine to use on flat telephone base or handset cord, but unless you're doing a lot of them it's probably better to use the solid wire version (which also works on flat/stranded cable) so you don't mix them up by mistake.
